Lacasinegra: Investigations in Cinematography

Some of my more courageous friends have been long reflecting on the qualities of the audiovisual language and the new practices of filmmaking in a context where the new technologies have affect the way we work, perceive and interact with images. These ideas have taken form in Lacasinegra, an artistic collective that focuses on the audiovisual investigation, creation and reflection. I thought it would be interesting to introduce it on Sociotree, since Lacasinegra calls for the free access and circulation of culture and examines the proccess of appropiation of audiovisual materials.

Opened to new colaborations and ideas, this perceptive group of Spaniards has so far taken action through different platforms on the Internet, such us Twitter, Facebook, Blog, Meipi, Vimeo and lacasinegra tv.

The mutation of these materials has been the key point of three projects in progress: El viento (The Wind), Expropiaciones (Expropiations) and Especies en extinción (Species in Extinction). They emphasize the importance of documenting and sharing the development of their projects in order to promote the transparency of the creative process.

To wet your appetite here are some clips of El viento, a work in progress that explores the intertexuality of images using footage recorded during 4 days in La  Mancha´s region of Spain. In this way, La casinegra asks how the same audiovisual materials can offer different aesthetic and syntatic possibilites depending on one´s approach.
